## What it is

An animated marine weather map, free: wind, gusts, waves, swell, ocean currents, rain, and pressure with highs and lows.

Every value says which model run it comes from and the time it is valid for. Not for navigation.

## What you get, free

- Models: NOAA GFS, ECMWF and Google DeepMind WeatherNext 3, side by side, with how far they agree.
- Ten days ahead, in one-hour steps where the model has them.
- Plan a passage: draw a route or bring a GPX, set your comfort limits, compare departure times.
- Save a passage for offline use before you lose signal.
- Share a forecast or a passage as a link or a video.

## Where the forecast comes from

Free the Wind draws the public forecasts of NOAA’s GFS, the European Centre’s ECMWF and Google DeepMind’s WeatherNext 3, unblended, each labelled with its model and run. The base map is OpenStreetMap, cut with Protomaps.

## Who makes it

SeaPeople is the boating app for tracking, logging and sharing trips, and finding marinas, anchorages and the way between them. SeaPeople built Free the Wind and keeps it free.
